When Men Look You Up & Down

Wednesday, July 14th, 2010

FRIEND: It’s always funny when a guy stares me up and down, but even more funny when it’s a friend
because with a random guy…they’ll tell you that you look good or whatever.
With a friend, they’ll just stare at you and you’ll have to wonder what they’re thinking.

ME: Awwwww, men.
Trust me, it’s good and definitely physical/sexual.

FRIEND: But it was cool.

ME: Men never stare at the bad.

FRIEND: Oh, of course.

ME: That only deserves glance.

FRIEND: I got completely eye-screwed like three times.

ME: Wow, I hope he used protection.

FRIEND: Visine.

As Of Lately…

Hello!

So…much has been going on. Like a lot. And it’s funny because I truly believe that there is a lack of Mattie here on MATTIEologie. And so, I’ve decided to fill you guys in and give everyone a larger peek into my life. So, if you don’t care for me, naturally this wouldn’t be the place for you. (Hence, the name.) (more…)

Miss Liberia GA 2010

Tuesday, June 29th, 2010

I cannot believe it’s been a year already. This weekend – on Sunday – I will crown the new Miss Liberia GA! It’s going to be good stuff. I’m excited :) It’s sort of a bittersweet moment, but I can’t help but to be happy for the next girl who gets it. It’s a great experience to have. Check out some pics from the pageant last year. Change of Hair

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

I’ve been going back and forth with myself about rocking my natural hair. About 8 weeks ago, I chopped off all the relaxed – and severly damaged – part of my hair and decided it was time to go natural. I haven’t been wearing it out – thanks to weaves and wigs – but quite frankly it’s just too hot for that. I saw my parents last weekend and they’re rooting for me to rock my short hair. As my Dad said, “I can’t see your face, and you have a good face.” My hair is about the length of Kelis’ in her new video, “Fourth of July.” I’ve also been debating color, because black – according to family & friends – is too daunting for my complexion. At least, all year round. I’m really leaning towards the color Kelis has, this reddish brown. Seems like an appropriate choice for summer. Kelis by the way? STUNNING. I’m hoping I can at least look half as good if I do make this choice. (more…)

The Rose Lounge Presents The Dream

Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010

This weekend I got the chance to interview The Dream and chat with him about his new album, Love King, which drops June 29. This past Sunday, Moet spolied a handful of us at The Rose Lounge listening session held at AltoRex Rooftop Lounge where we indulged in Rose’ and The Dream’s new album. The likes of Daron Jones of 112, Brian Michael Cox and Gucci Mane all stopped by to show support. When I spoke to The Dream he explained that this album was much more honest than the first two and why artist honesty is important. (more…)

Fashionair + 4 Ways to Wear A Dress

Monday, May 17th, 2010

Wearing some fantastic shades from House of Adrene in Castleberry Hill.

Last week, I hosted Fashionair with fashion stylist OLORI SWANK and URBAN SUITE ENT at the fantastic boutique, HOUSE OF ADRENE. Miss Swank provided guests with styling tips while boutique owner Adrene Ashford entertained guests and customers. The boutique is now in a new, larger location (formerly Noir) in Castleberry Hill. From accessories to rompers and dresses, it was easy for customers to empty their pockets that evening. They’ve got some strong silhouettes and colorful frocks, perfect for the summer! With a price point between $20 to $200 and a great location, House of Adrene is sure to be the go to spot for great pieces. (Another plus: They’ve got menswear, too!) See more pics from the event and how I changed my outfit 4 times without changing my dress. (more…)
