Nowadays, we’re all doing 86386097 things at once. Unfortunately, there’s only 24 hours in one day, but you can still get the most out of the 16-18 hours you’re actually up. Here’s how. (more…)

Ladylike 101: Rule No. 29

Rule No. 29: A lady knows her worth. That’s why she doesn’t mention it.

You think Oprah has ever told anyone she was powerful? Of course not. Because that would make her look powerLESS. Stating the obvious, like – “I’m beautiful, I’m smart, I’m successful” – is for you and YOU only during personal affirmations. A lady knows that trying to convince someone of how great she is makes her look insecure and silly. A lady won’t tell you she’s worthy, she’ll just BE worthy.

Ladylike 101: Rule No. 10

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

Rule No. 10: A lady knows that you are the company you keep.

Let this not be misconstrued into “use people.” Not all. A lady is aware of not only her surroundings but the people she surrounds herself with. She knows everyone in her circle should be at her level but most importantly bigger and better than her. So she can learn and benefit from being in their company. There is no doubt in my mind that Gayle King is a bright woman. But the reality of it is that we really wouldn’t have known of her if she wasn’t Oprah’s best friend. Because of her bond with Oprah she can reap the benefits of a job (she’s the editor at large of O Magazine) and get to go to these great events and meet these great people. A lady also knows that it’s not about the quantity of people but instead the quality of people. A lady would rather have one friend like Oprah instead of a hundred friends to go to the club with.
