Smoothie Criminal

If you’re like me you ate waaaaaaaay too much during the holidays. Drinking was involved too. Luckily, I’ve been pretty active and have cranking up the cardio within the last month or so. Above is my “so far” picture. I’m headed to Miami for the first time ever come March, so I’ve become quite the smoothie criminal.

I’m really into kale & spinach. Both are great sources of protein (spinach trumps kale, though) and while I don’t drink coconut water I add it to my smoothies and it’s quite delish. Below is one of my favorite recipes I thought I’d share. FYI, I use the the Magic Bullet blender for everyday morning smoothies, but sometimes I make more than one at once and my regular blender is perfect for that.

2 cups/handfuls of kale
1/2 cup of frozen organic mango
1 banana
1 apple
1/2 cup of pineapple chunks
1/4 cup of blueberries
1/2 cup of coconut water

This will make 2 healthy servings. Perfect for you and a workout buddy.

I’m getting back into my smoothie and workout groove. I said no to ice cream last night. I dropped a single thug tear. But when I get to Miami for Cotton’s 24 Hour Runway Show, I need to look like “Good God, girl!” I can’t believe we announce the finalists next week. Be sure to follow Cotton on Twitter & Instagram for contest and runway show updates. The Southeast is looking good!

Happy first weekend in 2013 to you!

  1. I love me some Miami! I also love me some smoothies too. I put virgin coconut oil from the bottle. I also take a teaspoon of it if I don’t have a smoothy that day. I loveeeeee coconut oil. I put it in my hair too. There’s just so much you can do with it!

  2. I’m back on the healthy eating plan too. The holidays were no joke and filled with lots of yummy, gut busting foodie moments. Back to reality. You will love Miami!

  3. I am totally going to get the ingredients for this smoothie today!!! I have been going to Miami for the last 3 years and always wait until the last minute to drop pounds. This year I said, I am not doing that to myself; so I am joining the smoothie bandwagon! FYI…. you totally look amazing!

  4. Love Love Love Kale smoothies. I also love the Magic Bullet. Keep experimenting with the fruits and green veggies and reap your sexy rewards.

  5. Loving this recipe and you will look fab in Miami

  6. I blend my green smoothie every morning. The recipe that I use is a combination of different green vegetables, two fruits and lemon, (the lemon gives it a nice taste). I have never tried it with mango before, the taste might be intersting, I will give it a try.
Thanks for sharing Mattie and keep up the good work, I love your blog!
