While I was in New York for NYFW, I held my first mixer during fashion week. To celebrate diversity in style blogging, I put together Bold, Beautiful & Blogging: A Style Bloggers of Color NYFW Mixer. Hosting an event anywhere can be hectic and overwhelming, but that was especially the case being in Atlanta while planning a mixer for NYC. There are so many mixers (especially for bloggers) during that time of year so it was important to me that I planned something worthwhile. I had the chance to attend the IFB conference the day before and as I suspected, there were so many style bloggers from all over the country diverse in their own way. It was also a fantastic way to network with other bloggers that aren’t from my neck of the woods so I was excited to meet new people and make fresh connections.
After a strenuous search, I found a fantastic venue. The mixer was held at Pranna Restaurant in the Lower East Side which turned out to be perfect. By the time I filled up all the gift bags and got dressed, I was about 30 minutes late (in typical Mattie fashion). However, everyone was so gracious and patient and seemed to be having a great time when I arrived.
I was so excited to meet folks who I’ve followed on Twitter for so long, Mattieologie readers and bloggers from NYC and other parts of the country. I was so excited to meet folks like Chasity of Jones Magazine and Joy Adaeze of JoyLovesFashion.com & ESSENCE.com. The amazing Jane of Jane Carter Solution was also in attendance and graciously sponsored products and bags. Other sponsors included Make Up For Ever, Sproos, L’bel Cosmetics and Violent Lips.
It was a whirlwind of a week, but I just wanted to thank everyone that came out to Bold, Beautiful & Blogging. Thank you, thank you & THANK YOU. A huge thanks to L&L Style Photography for capturing the evening.
