If you follow me on Instagram, then you know I’m obsessed with flowers and decorate my house with them on a weekly basis. I give myself a $30 weekly flower allowance to dress up my home. It’s a great way to elevate home decor without breaking the bank. I mean, come on, how many times do we spend $30 on nonsense during the week?

Exactly.

Using it to make your house a little more lively (and totally spring appropriate) is way more useful. So I thought I’d share a few ways to find flowers for cheap in the case you’re interested.

BUY MANAGER’S SPECIAL. I tend to buy flowers at the grocery store from time to time and in the floral section you’ll notice the “manager’s special”. They’re marked down stems for about 30%-50%. Usually a dozen of flowers are $12.99-$16.99 but the special is anywhere between $4.99-$8.99.

BUY WHOLESALE. If you do your research (and if you’re lucky), you can find a floral wholesale store near you and buy stems for very cheap. I opted for this when I planned my wedding. I scored roses for $.85 each because they were in season. Keep in mind, wholesale markets require you to open an account and you must have a business license. My blog is an LLC, so it worked in my favor.

BUY FROM THE FARMER’S MARKET. Everything is cheaper at the farmer’s market and also fresher. The blooms you buy from there will more than likely be fuller and brighter and noticeably cheaper than grocery store blooms. Also, don’t be afraid to inquire when they get fresh bouquets so you know when to pop in.

BUY IN GROUPS. A lot times you’ll find that flowers are marked down if you buy them in multiples. You’ll find that there are sales for bouquets like “3 for $12″ or even “5 for $20″. Usually the bouquets are for half a dozen but imagine for $40 you can get 60 stems. Not a bad deal at all.

Do you like fresh flowers in your house? If so, where do you get them and what kind do you like? Obviously, I’m partial to roses and hydrangeas.

  2. Great post! I keep telling myself I will update my flowers in my place once a week. I drift off a lot but this post makes me want to really commit.

I usually look for the “peak of the season” in the grocery store which are usually about $5.99 and I also love the flowers from Trader Joes. Very inexpensive!

I give myself a flower budget as well. I buy from the grocery store and markets, never thought about the Wholesale option. Good thinking.

  5. Seeing as I live with three boys, I don’t think flowers would be very appropriate next to their collection of video games and hookah flavors… however, I’ve recently started lighting candles and no one’s complained, so maybe blooms will be next!

  6. I never buy flowers, even though I love them. I didn’t know about the Manager’s Special. I’m definitely going to look for it the next time I’m in the grocery store.

I just bought a cute bouquet of flowers from Aldi’s for $3.99. I believe they’re always that price, but they don’t always have fresh flowers. So it can be a hit or miss.
