I really enjoy mixing prints and textures when it comes to outfits. It’s a sure way not to be boring and a great way to challenge yourself to maximize your wardrobe.

So, sequins and polka dots. It sounds crazy until you put them together.

In my heart, sequins is a neutral and polka dots are so charming and feminine so when you put the two together, it’s a winning combination. But as I’ve said before, if you’re gonna mix and match prints, be sure that they’re in the same color family. Keep it all warm or all cool. Florals and stripes, geometric and polka dots, leopard and plaid, all of these combos make sense if you keep them within the same color temperature. Reds, oranges, pinks, browns, yellows and ivory are considered warm while blues, purples, teals, greens are more on the cool side. In today’s look, the base of both my pieces are ivory and a soft mauve so they worked together even though the polka dots are blue. Because my sequins were silver I opted for silver pumps.

Sure, I just broke down the technical aspect of mixing and matching but the most important thing is to have fun. If you feel good in it and it’s a true representation of who you are and how you feel, go for it. The best accessory is confidence.
