It has been strangely warm in Atlanta. Like the beginning of the week was 30 degrees and as I type this it’s currently 71 degrees. I wore this jumpsuit on one these hot days and damn near passed out from how hot I was.
As we’re going into the new year, I’ve decided to not take the bad stuff with me. It’s funny because we get so hung up on little things. “She said this about me, I can’t believe they didn’t give me a raise, I should have more followers than them because I’ve been blogging longer.” It’s all silliness. All small stuff and we shouldn’t sweat it. Hubs and I went to bible study on Wednesday where the lesson was “Weathering the Storm” and how we shouldn’t make memorials of our past. I’m so very guilty of that as well. We say we forgive someone and then bring up every single bad thing they did to us. What’s the point?
As I move into 2014, I can’t take 2013 with me. It’s disrespectful to the new beginning I deserve. I shared some notes on Twitter. The only way to get passed the past is to press forward. Pressing forward includes sacrifice.
“Sacrifice is the commitment you make when you’ve decided you want something bad enough.” I want my 2014 to be better than my 2013. So, I’m willing to sacrifice looking back to look forward.
If you ask me, the past is small stuff. And my future’s too hot to be sweating it.
