It’s been raining out of control these last few days and because I haven’t been able to shoot and the weather has been blah, I’ve been scouring the web for cliche rainy day “oh so needed” inspiration. Cue Jason Wu and his amazing Resort 2014 collection. I have to admit, there was one time when I didn’t miss a season of new collections. But as of late, only pieces here or there from various designers have been inspiring. This is the first time, in a long time, that an entire collection has me excited about fashion again.
You see, Jason Wu and his fashion masterpieces do that to you. They turn you into a childish version of a woman who cannot wait to get dressed and live the epitome of her life. He gets her. You know, that woman you’ve always wanted to be. He knows she would wear her hair perfectly side parted with sunglasses that say she’s chic yet not pretentious but most certainly cool.
To be completely honest, his resort collection is actually the perfect wardrobe for a spring vacay in Europe. I’d throw on that Kelly green patent leather jacket in London on a rainy day and prance around in that fantastically intricate one piece on a St. Tropez beach. And is it me or is every single crop top from Wu not perfect for a chic dinner that turns into an epic night out? Maybe in Barcelona, perhaps.
Maybe I’m getting way ahead of myself. But with clothes like this, how could you not? The oversized bags certainly want me to travel, if for nothing more, at least for a weekend in Venice. And this sheer sheath with the black detail?! In the (edited) infamous words of Mr. Big, it’s fan-effin-tastic.
And so, like today’s weather, when good fashion reigns, it pours. Luckily Jason Wu’s resort collection has the perfect trench for that.
