It’s February 5. So that means that NYFW is not even around the corner. It’s at the door. Nothing accelerates my fitness routine like fashion week. I mean, I try to stay healthy other parts of the year, but crank it up during this time to look fantastic in my perfectly planned outfits for my favorite time of the year.
TREADMILL/WEIGHTS WORKOUT: I’m not into lifting weights although I should be to an extent because low weights, high reps gives you a sick-with-it body. (I am into squats with a 10 lb dumbbell; 20 reps/3 sets) But I actually like running. My treadmill workout as of late has been kicking my butt, but the results are stellar. This really leans you out and builds endurance.
Start on the treadmill at 4.5 for 2 minutes. Then 5.0 for 1 minute. 5.5 for 1 minute. 6.0 for 1 minute. 6.5 for 1 minute. 7.0 for 1 minute. 7.5 for 1 minute. Repeat that entire run 5 times. You’ll knock out about 5 miles and 500 calories. I did it on a .5 incline. My calves are paying for it now. The run is intense especially if you’re NOT into running. At least try to get through it 3 times. Your body will thank you. (NOTE: Hydrate before thoroughly.)
SMOOTHIE RECIPE: I’ve been into smoothies since I got the Magic Bullet blender in December. I decided to switch it up a bit from my usually kale-apple-other fruits combo. I call this, “Vanilla Almond Joy”:
VANILLA ALMOND JOY SMOOTHIE
1 whole banana
1 cup of spinach
1 handful of blueberries
3/4 cup of pineapple
1/2 cup of vanilla almond milk
It’s pretty sweet. But it has that milkshake effect that makes you forget that you’re drinking something healthy for you. And a serving of vanilla almond milk only has 90 calories! I’m not a calorie counter but in case you are, that’s a good look.
Forcing myself to get a run in this afternoon and early tomorrow before I get on the plane. Quick day trip in DC for an event then NYC early Thursday.
Let me know what you think about the run (it’s tough) and the smoothie. Oh, and happy NYFW if you’re headed that way.
