Mattie Memo: 2011 Grammy Awards

Ah, the 2011 Grammy Awards. When it comes to the Grammys, you never really know what to expect fashion wise. They’re a bit more important than the MTV Video Music Awards but not as serious as the Oscars. This year, stars really got outrageous (like Lady Gaga arriving in an egg, Katy Perry wearing angel wings and Nicki Minaj in a head to toe leopard wearing a Givenchy bodysuit). But some of them played it safe with their usual like Ciara in Emilio Pucci & Kim Kardashian in Kaufman Franco. And then of course there are those who stand out on the big night like Jennifer Lopez in a disco ball-esque Emilio Pucci mini dress, Jennifer Hudson looking smokin’ hot in Versace and Florence Welch in Givenchy Couture. Some left us asking questions like Rihanna in her unusual Jean Paul Gaultier gown…reminds me of Christmas…and others just fell flat (see Eva Longoria in her Ashi Two Toned dress). But whatever the case, they kept us talking, blogging & tweeting which is what I love most about award shows.

Who did you think was best dressed at the 2011 Grammy Awards?

  1. SOA’s Faves:
Beyonce (she shows that shorts and a jacket can be as sexy and elegant as a gown)

Jada (the structure of the dress and the chain draping made her look tall and the color was very pretty against her skin)

    J. Hud (the asymmetric hem of the dress was a nice surprise and the color was gorgeous and she looked AMAZING in it)

J.Lo (apparently Venus does her legs great and so does this dress)

Kelly Osbourne (she has come a long way and she looked adorable in that lavender, ready for spring I see!).
